The Malayan Emergency (1948-1960): Australians Arrive in Malaya

Overview: Video - Brigadier Hassett 28 Brigade Malaysia

Brigadier Hassett 28 Brigade Malaysia

Brigadier Frank Hassett was one of Australia’s most well-known soldiers. At the time of this interview, in which he discusses aspects of Australian’s involvement in the Malayan Emergency, Hassett was commander of the Commonwealth Brigade. His most famous command moment, however, took place years earlier in Korea when he led the Australians in the Battle of Maryang San, still regarded by many as one of Australia’s finest battalion actions.
