The Malayan Emergency (1948-1960): Australians on Operations

RAAF Operations: Video - Operation Termite

Operation Termite

Although relatively long, this film is a fascinating look at July 1954’s Operation Termite, the largest combined operation to have taken place to that point in the Malayan Emergency. The target was two communist camps east of Ipoh in the state of Perak. Australian Lincolns of No. 1 Squadron were involved in the operation which lasted until November 1954 and in which 13 communists were killed and 181 camps located and destroyed. The film’s narration is typical of the type of voice over that could be found on newsreels from the time. (6:44 min - BW - Sound) [AWM F02784]
