The Indonesian Confrontation (Konfrontasi) (1963-1966): Australia's Involvement

Australia's Involvement: Map of Indonesian Bases.

Map showing the bases from which Indonesian incursions were launched against the Malayan Peninsula. Indonesian forces mounted two kinds of operations against the West Malaysian coast; infiltration and sabotage, usually at night and using small groups of less than 12 men. Most attempts were unsuccessful and even when Indonesians did come ashore they were soon identified and reported by local villagers. Australian vessels were involved in patrolling these waters during Confrontation.
